Emergency Services Available
Always available at either the White River Junction location or one of the other hospitals in the shared emergency rotation.
SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS: All appointment times at our hospitals are scheduled in advance. We strive to allow adequate time for each appointment, so we can give the best care to each case. Some appointments are allotted more time than others. A simple booster vaccine with one of our technicians may be given a 10-minute slot. An annual exam on a healthy pet may be scheduled for 20 minutes, and a medical case for a sick pet is usually set up for a 30 minute time period. We make our best effort to stay on schedule, but that is not always possible, often because of the other appointments noted below.
DAYTIME EMERGENCIES: Not all emergency cases occur in the middle of the night. We always take in emergency cases. As it is almost a given that we will have to make other people wait, alter our schedule, and divert staff to address the emergency, there is an extra charge for unscheduled emergency care.
DROP-OFF APPOINTMENTS: This is an inefficient way to provide pet care, but sometimes it is the only way to take care of a sick pet. We prefer to have the pet and the pet owner in the same room, so we can ask multiple history questions and ascertain the exact wishes of the pet owner on how best to address the case. When this is not possible, the pet can be dropped off for a day of boarding at our hospital and our veterinarians will address the case as soon as it is possible. A form needs to be filled out by the pet owner, and the owner needs to be available to the phone for a follow up call from our pet care team, so a review of the diagnosis and the treatment plan can occur.
Waiting Room Policy
Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room. For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms. All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash.
Vaccination Policy
For the safety of all animals in our care and for the safety of our staff, we require that all pets provide proof of vaccination against rabies. If proof of rabies vaccination is not available, we will vaccinate your pet against rabies for everyone's protection.
Payment Policy
We require full payment at the time that services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Care Credit, cash and personal checks (checks may need to be approved through our check verification system to be accepted).
CareCredit is a unique lending institution that has many options for securing assistance to pay for pet health care bills, dental bills, vision care bills and more. We process multiple CareCredit applications every week. To learn more, click on the CareCredit link or give us a call.
There are now several pet health insurance companies for pets in the United States. It is important to remember that at present, the pet insurance companies expect you to pay the bills, and then they reimburse you rather than pay us. There is a partial list of companies with which we are familiar on our 'Links' page.
PRICING ISSUES
We look forward to the day when all of our patients are covered by health insurance. Since it is possible that such a day is still a long way off, we at Veremedy Pet Hospital recognize that the cost of good care can be a concern.
Veterinary medicine is intimately tied to the human health care market. Most of the supplies we use in our pharmacy, lab, surgery and dental areas are exactly the same supplies used in a human hospital. Since those costs are constantly rising, our costs rise also. Part of the Veremedy Way is to take into consideration any financial constraints that may influence the way we can approach a case. Though we cannot alter the prices, we can sometimes alter a treatment plan so that budgetary needs are taken into account.
PRICE QUOTES OVER THE PHONE: We know this can sometimes be frustrating, but we prefer not to give out prices over the phone. We are always happy to provide a range of prices for routine health care procedures, but specific quotes are difficult, if not impossible to give without seeing the patient. We occasionally have people call us to see if our spay price is lower than someone else's, or to see what we charge for puppy shots. While we appreciate the need to wisely spend pet care dollars, we simply do not believe that price shopping for the cheapest spay or vaccine price is an effective way to conserve pet care dollars. We believe it is far more important to choose a veterinary hospital whose staff is committed to helping people spend their pet health care dollars intelligently.
